Dr. Bob Scott
Rotary’s Significant Contribution toward a Polio–free World

For decades dating back to a time when polio was a major killer and crippler of children worldwide, Dr. Bob Scott has made it a personal mission to see the last of this terrible disease.. In 2004, Dr. Scott became a Rotary Foundation Trustee and in 2006, he began his term as Chair of the International PolioPlus Committee. Since then, Dr Scott has received world-wide recognition for his many years of service toward the eradication of Polio, including The Rotary Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service, the International Service Award for a Polio-Free World and the Four Avenues of Service Citation. In addition, he has been named an outstanding leader in polio eradication by the United Nations Foundation. The Ontario Medical Association awarded Dr. Scott with The Glenn Sawyer Service Award for professional and community achievement.

In addition to his many years as a member of the Rotary Club of Coburg, Dr Scott  had a distinguished career as a general practitioner and served as a coroner for the Province of Ontario, investigating more than 1,200 cases prior to his retirement in May 2000.
