Game Changing Celebrations

Dianna is the founder and creator of Red Bird, a bereavement event company that creates modern, personalized celebrations that can happen almost anywhere. She began her career in fundraising and events working within the non-profit and cultural sector for 20 years. With many years spent at TVO, TIFF and the Canadian Screen Awards she was looking for a new challenge for the next chapter in her career. Dianna has always bee passionate about supporting people and causes and came across an article in Fortune Magazine for the top 10 jobs of the future, and the one that caught her attention was a funeral director.

With a BA from the University of Waterloo and an event Marketing Diploma from George Brown College, she expanded her love of education and learning and returned to school in 2017 to secure her Funeral Directors license. She practiced full time for 4 years at Cardinal Funeral Homes, grounding her in the death care industry.

But she always had a vision of becoming a Creative Memorial Planner and challenge the way our society views funerals. Even in her own personal life she saw a gap in how people celebrate their loved ones.  She went on to receive her Funeral Celebrant Certification and is a practicing celebrant with Red Bird Events.

Dianna is an avid member of her community and has sat on many boards, including the Revue Cinema, Images Festival as well as the The Dora Awards. She continues her community engagement through local fundraising and food drives. She has presented at Ryerson University, the University of Waterloo and at the Zoomer Conference.
