The Social Determinants of Health

Dr. McMurtry is an orthopedic surgeon, formerly at Sunnybrook Hospital where he was resposible for setting up the first trauma program in Canada. Subsequently he was Professor or Surgery at the Univesity of Calgary, Dean of Medecine and Dentistry at the University of Western Ontario, member of the Romanow Commision and then Assistant Deputy Minister in the Federal Health Ministery. He is a Member of the Order of Canada. The social determinants of health have been a long-term passion.
