From Words to Action - the Importance of Interfaith Dialogue in Times of Conflict and Extremism.

Karen Mock is a human rights consultant, psychologist and educator. She is former Executive Director of the Canadian Race Relations Foundation, and of the League for Human Rights of B’nai Brith Canada. Karen has been on the board of the Urban Alliance on Race Relations, and is a founding member of the Canadian Association of Jews and Muslims and of the Canadian Arab Jewish Leadership Dialogue, as well as the Women’s Interfaith Dialogue and Women’s Intercultural Network. She is a past president of the Ontario Multicultural Association and is the current president of JSpaceCanada, a progressive Jewish organization.  Dr. Mock is one of the few people in Canada qualified by the courts and human rights tribunals as an expert on human rights, discrimination, racism, antisemitism, hate crime and hate group activity. Prior to devoting herself full time to human rights, Karen taught at the University of Toronto, Ryerson Polytechnical University and York University.  Considered a pioneer in the field, she developed and taught the first course in Canada on multicultural teacher education. She is published widely in the field, chaired the Hate Crimes Community Working Group for the Attorney General and Minister of Community Safety and Corrections, and was the Senior Policy Advisor to then Minister of Education, Kathleen Wynne, for the development and delivery of Ontario’s Equity and Inclusive Education Strategy. Dr. Mock has received several awards and honours for her work, and was most recently named to the Order of Canada.
